Die Sagrada Familia



Antonio Gaudis unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia, is like the landmark of Barcelona, it is to be seen from everywhere.

It is considered as the masterpiece Gaudis, who tock over the construction supervision 1883 and had it up to his death in the year 1926. Beside Antonio Gaudi also different building masters worked to the Sagrada Familia, but in each case its name is actually called.

Gaudi undertook the construction supervision with the condition to integrate the parts up to then already established, the chapel, which is today still in operation and where Antonio Gaudi is buried, into his plans.

The Spanish civil war interrupted the work. They were taken up again in 1952.

In the meantime 8 of the planned 13 towers are finished and sometime in the next 10 - 15 years the building is to be finished. One can by the way ascend in 2 of the towers by means of elevator or over stairs.

The Sagrada Familia is financed by the way from the outset by donating and admission fees.
